III. Payments system and security measures.
Your sensitive billing and personal information is securely stored on third party servers, and our processing system features state-of-the-art fraud prevention to help stop cyber crime.
Protecting the security of your Chitika Advertiser account and ensuring efficient, timely transactions is our primary concern. All advertisers are required to complete the following cardholder identity verification steps:
Chitika asks that all advertisers verify their identity through email confirmation. Chitika’s email verification system increases the security of the Chitika publisher network and Chitika advertisers.
Verified member has activated his/her account with a valid credit card, and this credit card has been authorized by our third party credit card processing system.
Chitika requires all advertisers to verify cardholder identity before we will issue a credit limit above the initial $50.00 USD allotted for your account. Chitika considers this security check essential and successful completion is required of all advertisers.
1. Activate your Chitika account by submitting valid credit card information.
2. Chitika will process a charge of $5.00 USD to activate your account. (*this is a one-time sign-up fee.)
3. Your Chitika ‘Billing Summary’ will list this charge as $5.00 USD (on the date of account activation).
4. Chitika will break the $5.00 USD fee into two unique values, and process a charge to your credit card for each. (i.e.; “$4.10″ and “$0.90″.)
5. Submit the unique values into the orange box located under the header of your account interface (see image below), entitled “Please verify your payment amount.” This box will only appear if your action is needed for this verification step.

Note: Your Chitika ads will stop running and your account will be placed on hold if you do not complete this verification process before your Chitika account’s accrued advertising spend reaches the initial $50.00 USD credit limit. Once you complete said verification you will receive a confirmation email from Chitika and your campaigns will continue running and your account will remain active.
Both new advertisers and existing advertisers will be required to verify their cardholder identity upon submitting/updating credit card information.
Note: You will receive an email receipt of this payment from Chitika, and be able to view this charge in your account’s ‘Billing Summary’; both will show the total $5.00 USD amount. However, you will only be able to view the values of the two unique charges in your actual credit card statement.
Credit card verification for current advertisers:
If you have submitted credit card information into the ‘Billing Preferences’ section of your account before (i.e.; if your account has been, or is currently, activated), and are adding new credit card information into your account, Chitika will process your outstanding balance in two unique values.
If your account balance (pending balance) is less than $1.00 USD, we will process a $5.00 USD charge to your account broken into two unique values–please follow the new advertiser credit card verification process above.
Note: The verification box will remain in your account interface until your verify your credit card.
You can easily remove this hold on your account at any time by completing the credit card verification process, and you can verify at any time before your accrued advertising costs reach $50.00 USD.

III. Account Billing Cycle, Credit Limits, Pending Charges.
Your account’s billing cycle starts once your Chitika Advertiser Account is active.
You are charged a one-time $5.00 USD activation fee, listed in your Chitika account ‘Billing Summary’ and in your credit card invoice under the date of activation. (i.e.; if you activate your account on May 15, the $5.00 activation fee will be listed under a May 15 transaction date.)
Once you activate your Chitika Advertiser Account your campaigns will start running in the Chitika Network almost immediately.
Being that Chitika only charges your credit card when your advertising costs reach your account’s assessed credit limit, charges processed, as well as respective transaction dates, will vary.
However, if your advertising costs are below your account’s assessed credit limit within a 30-day billing period, you will be charged the sum of advertising costs at the end of said 30-day billing period.
NOTE: Credit limits will always be more than or equal to $50.00 USD.
NOTE: Chitika will not charge you before 30 days unless your account accrues more than your account level credit limit.
Basic Credit Limit Escalation Process
New Chitika advertisers are given a max $50.00 USD credit limit. Chitika adjusts said credit limit immediately after the first payment of $50.00 USD is successfully processed through our credit card billing system.
Chitika advertisers who reach a given $50.00 USD credit limit within 30 days are in most cases given an immediate increased credit limit of $100 or more.
Chitika advertisers start with $50.00 USD credit limit.
Credit Limit Increase #1: Once Chitika has successfully processed a payment of >=$50.00 USD, your limit will increase to $250.00 USD.
Credit Limit Increase #2: Once a payment of >= $250.00USD is successfully processed, your limit will increase to $400.00 USD.
Credit Limit Increase #3: ” ” $600.00 USD.
After the $600.00 milestone Chitika will assess a customized credit limit for your account to best fit your advertising needs and billing preferences.
IMPORTANT: Chitika Advertiser Account-level credit limits and credit limit escalation varies for each advertiser. If you have questions regarding your account’s credit limit, please contact Chitika Advertiser Support by clicking here.
Pending Charges
Pending charges to your account are determined by the number of clicks your ads have received since the last time you were billed. (If you’re running a CPM campaign, the charges are determined by the number of impressions you’ve received.)
All pending charges can be viewed on the ‘Billing Summary’ section of your account interface.
Your outstanding balance provides an estimate for upcoming charges for your campaigns. Please note that this amount does not necessarily reflect a delinquent amount, or a final balance.
The outstanding balance is updated daily and includes deductions for any over delivery credits that may apply.
