The Role
In this role you will be responsible for, but is not limited to, the following;
- Improve the efficiency and reliability of Hadoop
- Redesign the data flow for the organization
- Improve the speed of collecting data and forecasting
- Find new technologies to assist in better using organizational data
- Building out our existing pipeline architecture
- Maintaining the pipeline of data
- Improving current systems to optimize speed and efficiency
- Work pro-actively to implement solutions for future weaknesses
Requirements
To secure this role you will;
- Have a strong knowledge and understanding of Linux and its utilities (grep, cron, regular expressions)
- You will have through knowledge and a strong understanding of database technologies
- You will have a strong database background, especially with Hadoop and other Big Data technologies
- Ideally, you will have a Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Maths
- Be able to think and act quickly to problems
- Have solid programming / scripting experience / knowledge (Perl or PHP is a huge plus)
